EMB students capture Bearcat conquest

Over 30 NKU Electronic Media & Broadcasting students were working for either ESPN+, NKU Athletics, the men's basketball team, the in-house video board, and/or the local media when the Norse beat crosstown rival Cincinnati. Most of the video of the historic evening was from their efforts. NKU EMB students Paul Kremer & Travis Martin brought us this "sizzle" video.

Sports Photography 101

Electronic Media & Broadcasting student Violet Lewis began shooting photos for the men's basketball team's social media her freshman year at NKU.  Now she shoots SEC athletes for the University of Missouri.

The NKY Sports Talk Show hits the road doing live remotes (2022-23)

Josh Kalb, Bryan Baurer, Noah Miller, Phil Hoffman, Brady Kramer, Gracie Holland, Sophia Cates, Seth Jackson begin doing on-location live remotes with interviews of NKU greats and local sports figures.

The NKU Sports Talk Radio Show

In 2020-21 school year EMB students Brendan Connelly, Noah Schuler and Justis White produce "The NKU Sports Talk Radio Show" for the Northerner as part of Wes Akers' sports media production class. In this episode they talk with the show's audio engineer, EMB student Paul Kremer, about his experience working with his dad and CBS at the Master's tournament.

EMB students get assist from a pro on volleyball video

Network cameraman, Paul Kremer, shared tips and equipment with the fall 2022 Sports Media Production class. Kremer's experiences include working ESPN 30 for 30's, CBS NFL football, Big Ten Network's The Journey, ESPN College football and the Master's for CBS.

Electronic Media & Broadcasting students Carly Motzer, Travis Martin, and Paul Kremer produce game preview at historic Assembly Hall against Indiana for NKU mens' basketball social media.

Electronic Media & Broadcasting students Travis Martin and Paul Kremer highlight a Marques Warrick 30-point performance in this "sizzle" video.

Fox Sports Ohio telecast (2018)

NKU student basketball productions begin running on regional sports network Fox Sports Ohio. One of the first ,and very few, student-produced telecasts on a regional sports network.

Students Emma Wilson produced & Tanner Robinson directed first game.

ESPN SportsCenter lead story

Highlights from NKU's student produced telecast have twice led off ESPN's SportsCenter with anchor Scott Van Pelt's "The Best Thing I Saw Today" segment.

NKU Sportsbreak debuts (2018)

Electronic Media and Broadcasting students team up with NKU athletics and Media Services to produce NKU Sportsbreak. Show first hosted/produced by Tori Watkins, Kevin Carey and Chandler Blackmond.

New Sports Show Open (2012)

​Electronic Media and Broadcasting student Eric Edens creates a new open for The NKU Sports Show. The open features a video board. Ironically, Eric went on to a career working for Daktronics. The company that makes stadium and arena in-house video boards.

The NKU Sports Show(12-16-10)

This show features national championship highlights from the 2010 men's soccer team. Producer/host Abby Esmena battled the snow while shooting spectacular footage to capture the historic achievement.

The NKU Sports Show (3-3-08)

This show features national championship highlights from the women's 2008 basketball team. Early adopters of the Youtube platform, The NKU Sports Show was a weekly highlight show first produced by Electronic Media and Broadcasting students Trista Hall and Brady Laber in Wes Akers' Sports Media Production class.

First Sports Telecast (11-22-95)

NKU radio and television students and Media Services produce their first live sports telecast. They start the tradition of being one of the country's longest running student producers of live sports productions.
